DONA Approved - NOVEMBER DOULA TRAINING

Day 1 - Intro to Childbirth (8-hours optional)

  • Covers the required Childbirth Education portion on the path towards doula certification.

  • Optional for those that have proof of attendance in a CBE class in the past 3 years through an educator or doula lens (not as a birthing person) or if you’re an experienced doula with over 25 births attended.

DAY 2 and 3 DOULA TRAINING

Each day has a few short breaks and a 30 minute lunch break.

9am - 12pm - Training

12:00 - 12:30 - LUNCH

1pm - 6pm - Training

STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL OF THE DOULA TRAINING TO RECEIVE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION


In this workshop you will learn the required topics on your path to becoming a Certified DONA International Doula. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • History of birth in North America including the origin of doulas

  • Current birth inequities and state of birth outcomes

  • Evidence on doula support and its long term impact on birthing people

  • Ethics and scope of a doula

  • Values and how they impact a birthing persons choices in birth location, provider, and interventions

  • Prenatal and postpartum meetings

  • Hands on comfort measures and skills to support birthing families

  • Learning the labor room - during this portion of class we visit Methodist hospital and tour a not-in-use labor room to learn technical skills and build confidence in the hospital room*if a labor room is available

  • Birth complications, interventions and supporting surgical (cesarean) birth

  • Doulas role in lactation support

  • Instructions and support on next steps towards completing certification

  • Basic business strategies for launching and organizing your birth business

CANCELLATION POLICY (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS IT IS ENFORCED)

By registering, you acknowledge reading and agreeing to these policies. This workshop requires your full in person participation for the entire series of the DOULA TRAINING portion of the workshop. Your name and email will be shared with DONA International for training evaluation. We do not offer refunds, however you can transfer to another birthED DONA Training within a year of registration, with a $200 fee if requested within one month of the class or once it has begun. Missing a class incurs a $100 fee, and you can reschedule by contacting the instructor. The instructor may cancel due to low enrollment, offering a switch to a preferred class without extra fees. TRANSFER students must pay all fees from their original registration before transferring to a new class.
